As we arrived it got instantly clear we weren't the only ones who got the idea to go there. The place was packed and some people were even waiting outside (in the snow!! talking about being persistent :-)) because of lack of space inside. But as I was determined to try out this place, we were seated after +/- 20 minutes thanks to the friendly host. And I can tell you this: it was so worth it!
Their extensive menu consists of freshly pressed juices, instaworthy milkshakes, comforting oatmeal, fluffy pancakes, eggs in all its forms and well filled sandwiches. Rik and I both prefer having a salty dish on our own and sharing something sweet afterwards. Even though it was very crowded inside, we could order almost right away and our food arrived not much later.
Rik ordered a Croque Madame which wasn't like the "regular" one since it had both an omelet and a sunny side up on top of it. According to him it was "really good". I hoped for a more detailed description since I couldn't taste it myself (it had meat in it) but you'll just have to believe him I guess. After proofreading he made me add that the small salad on the side was very good as well thanks to the yummy dressing haha.
I ordered the Salmon sandwich which had salmon, tzatziki, zucchini, sweet and sour bell pepper, spring onion and radish in it. It was incredibly tasty and all the ingredients were super fresh. The salmon was without a doubt of high quality since it almost melted in my mouth, the veggies were very crispy and the bun was crunchy despite the runny tzatziki. As I'm writing this I have to try very hard not to salivate so you can figure I'd really recommend this one!!
Last but not least, we shared the stack of pancakes topped with maple syrup and fresh fruit. They were really fluffy and just the right amount of sweet for my taste. Definitely a must try since they do not disappoint!
I have to admit The Corner Bakery is worth the hype. Although you have to be patient until getting seated, the service and food make more than up for it! Would really recommend going when you have plenty of time and are in need of a varied brunch with tasty & fresh food to catch up with friends.
